According to the Hollywood Reporter, Marvel wont be paying a dime to put Spider Man in one of it’s upcoming movies. Sony who continues to hold film rights for the webslinger apparently sees this as an opportunity to bolster the Spider Man franchise. On Monday (February 9th), Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios announced that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider Man.
The deal means that the new Spider Man would first appear in a movie based in Marvel’s Cinematic universe some time in the future, following which Sony would go ahead with its next solo installment of Spider Man in 2017. The 2017 Spider man movie will be co-produced by Kevin Fergie the president of Marvel studios and the mastermind behind the recent success of Marvel in Hollywood.
Spider Man has been a part of Marvel’s comic book universe for over 50 years and this new deal means that die hard marvel fans would possibly be able to see the friendly neighborhood webslinger in action alongside other marvel superhero such as Iron Man, Thor and Captain America.
