Police have commenced investigations into a gang, allegedly involved in multiple jewellery robberies, impersonating members of the President’s Security Division.

The Police Media Unit stated that a member of the gang was apprehended on February 6 in the Thalangama area.

After initial interrogations, it was revealed that, the gang was responsible for multiple jewellery robberies in Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha districts and in Homagama, Panadura, Kollupitya Maharagama, Kaduwela, Weliweriya and other areas in Gampaha.

He added that, investigations are already under way to bring the remaining members of the gang to justice.
