The court case regarding the incident where the Chairman of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha was allegedly attacked, was taken up before Wattala Magistrate Lanka Jayarathne on Thursday.

A group that allegedly forced their way into the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha on the morning of January 30 attempted to forcefully remove Chairman Thyagarathne Alwis from his seat.

Following a tense situation that arose thereafter, chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha Thyagarathne Alwis alleges that he was attacked.

When court convened on Thursday, the attorney representing the aggrieved party stated that some of the suspects produced in court had no connection to the incident.

Chairman of Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha, Thyagarathne Alwis noted that three were produced today, they were suspects number 2, 3 and 4.  The police know the address of their residences near the Hendala temple. Today, their addresses have been presented as Kotahena, Colombo. They produced in court three suspects from Borella, Kotahena, Colombo and expect them to be arrested. Three other people have been presented instead of the actual suspects, but their names are on the frame. The police are carrying out a completely false operation here, it was alleged.
