Bribery Commission ‘flooded with complaints’

Several complaints on corrupt deals which took place over the recent past were filed with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

Meanwhile, a demonstration was staged opposite the Commission on Thursday morning by the Anti Corruption Front, demanding that immediate action be taken on the complaints that they have made with the Bribery Commission.

The Joint Trade Union Alliance of the Ceylon Electricity Board lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on Thursday morning alleging that a major financial fraud took place at the CEB prior to the presidential election, where the wages of certain top officials were increased.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Teachers’ Services Union lodged a complaint with the Bribery Commission on Thursday on a alleged fraud which took place at the Ministry of Education during the tenure of Former Education Minister Bandula Gunewardena.

Many corruption-related complaints have been pouring into the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption following the presidential election.
