General Secretary of the Commonwealth Kamalesh Sharma arrived in the country a short while ago as part of his three-day official visit to the country.
The General Secretary is slated to hold talks with President Maithripala Sirisena, the newly-appointed chairman of the Commonwealth nations.
Kamalesh Sharma said that discussions will be held with the President regarding the proceedings of the next Commonwealth Heads of State summit which will be held in Malta in November 2015.
The General Secretary said that he will also pay his attention on how the Commonwealth can assist Sri Lanka with the implementation of their national plans.
In addition, the General Secretary will, during his visit, hold discussions with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and the Minister of External affairs.
