The Colombo Municipal Council says that steps have been taken to remove all apples that have been imported from the USA due to the threat of a spread of a bacteria-infected disease.
Chief Medical Officer, Ruwan Wijemuni said that the apples will be discarded and collected in the depositary.
He stated that all steps have been taken to remove apples from stores within the Colombo area that were imported from abroad infected with the bacteria.
He said; “I make a request once again to all consumers to refrain from purchasing apples or any fruit without the batch code and the details of the imported country.
