P.L. Keerthisinghe who resigned from duties as the OIC of the Wanduramba Police after alleged political inference into duties, on Sunday resumed duties as the Officer-in-Charge of the Wanduramba Police today.
The inspector of police resigned when a former deputy minister who arrived at the police station ordered the release of a group of suspects who were arrested for setting ablaze a stage of then presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
He was reinstated after an appeal was made to the Inspector General of Police, stating that the duties could now be carried out independently, subsequent to the presidential election.
However, when contacted by News1st, Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the investigations launched when the Wanduraba OIC resigned from his post, will still continue.
