Apples imported from the United States of America have been recalled to prevent the spread of a dangerous bacteria that has reportedly been found.

Director of the Food Protection Division of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine Specialist Ananda Jayalal stated that this step was taken as a measure of health security.

He requests the general public to refrain from consuming apples imported from America until further notice.

He also added that children, pregnant mothers and senior citizens are most likely to be more affected.
