Former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, says that he is deeply disappointed at the wide publicity that has been generated for the ‘charges’ contained in the complaints against him, as well as other scurrilous stories that have been “deviously placed in various websites and social media.”

Ajith Nivard Cabraal, made this statement, in a press statement issued regarding recent complaints made to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, pertaining to his conduct.

Issuing a statement, Cabraal notes that he believes that the true position will emerge once a proper understanding of the matters at issue are known to the public.

The former Central Bank Governor said:

I believe the true position will emerge once a proper understanding of the matters at issue are known to the public.

He expressed confidence that the current attempt to vilify and discredit him would be unsuccessful and that he would be fully vindicated in time to come.

The former Central Bank Governor adds that following his resignation, he vacated the Governor’s official residence by  January 15, and that he has since moved to a private residence in Colombo, having no intention of leaving the country.
