The Information and Media Bureau for the Pope’s visit to Sri Lanka said that all preparations are in place for the Pontiff’s visit.
Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando, Director at the National Catholic Centre for Social Communications stated that a special mass celebrated with the Pontiff’s participation is scheduled to be held on January 14.
Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando noted that arrangements are in place for the convenience of the devotees. Meanwhile, the deputy mayor of Colombo Titus Perera added that the preparations have been made in the City of Colombo to welcome the Pope. A rehearsal of events following the Pope’s visit was held at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Sunday.
The official government news website stated that the rehearsal saw the participation of the Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and Presidential Secretary P.B. Abeykoon.
A special traffic plan is in place for the special mass to be celebrated with the participation of the Pope on January 14 at the Galle Face Green.
Railway Superintendent L.A.R. Rathnayake stated that a special railway service in line with the Pope’s visit will commence tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transport Board says that special bus services will be operating from main cities in the country for devotees attending the mass celebration slated to be held on January 14 at the Galle Face Green.
