Convening a media briefing on Monday, the JVP announced that they would not accept any cabinet ministerial positions, and they are prepared to join a National Executive Council.
Speaking at the media briefing JVP leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake expressed these views:
Although we are not shareholders in this government, although we will not enter the cabinet, we have proposed the establishment of a national executive council above the cabinet. We have discussed this with the other factions. They have voiced their agreement for a national executive council. The JVP will be shareholders of this national executive council. The national executive council must be established under the President and the Prime Minister.
The JVP reiterated that there can be no delay in inquiries into fraud and corruption.
