The bonds deposited by 17 candidates who contested in the presidential poll have been confiscated due to a failure to obtain more than 1% of the votes.
Additional Elections commissioner U. Amaradasa stated that the bonds of 15 candidates from political parties and two other independent candidates have been confiscated.
The designated amount for independent candidates was Rs. 75,000 For candidates from political parties, the amount was Rs.50,000.
Accordingly, the total amount confiscated adds up to Rs.900,000.
