Parallel to President Maithripala Sirisena’s visit to Kandy, a special motorcade travelled to Kandy, commencing its journey from the independence square in Colombo.
A group including parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratna and Provincial Councillor Hirunika Premachandra took part in the motorcade.
The motorcade commenced its journey around 8.30 a.m. on Sunday after offering floral tributes to the statue of late D.S Senanayake.
The group led by Rajitha Senaratne arrived at the Horagolla Memorial offered floral tributes as well. The Maha Sangha bestowed their blessings. The motorcade also received the good wishes of the public on its way towards Kandy.
The group also paid homage to the Temple of the Scared Tooth Relic
