A youth was shot dead in Wattehena in Pitigala on Friday. Police said that the victim was a 26-year-old from Habaraduwa, Galle named Udayanga Sampath,  a father of one.

The homicide had taken place at 04.10 on Friday evening. The Pitigala Police is heading the investigations. According to the Police, a dispute had led to the murder.

Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified male was found floating in the Madugala-Ela in Samapura, Ampara.

Police said that the discovery was made based on a tip-off.

According to the police, the corpse is of a male estimated to be between thirty and fortt years of age and was decomposed beyond recognition.
