The United People’s Freedom Alliance says that it will provide its fullest support to points that can be agreed upon mentioned in the manifesto of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Speaking at the first media briefing, convened by the UPFA subsequent to the presidential poll, Nimal Siripala de Silva said that the ministerial portfolios are considered void after the new Prime Minister was sworn in yesterday.

Senior Vice Chairman of Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Nimal Siripala de Silva said:

A new Prime Minister was sworn in. There may be constitutional issues with regard to the appointment of the Prime Minister, however he has been sworn in. We assume that they will appoint their own cabinet of ministers.

The people voted for Maithripala Sirisena based on his 100-day programme. The people have agreed to it. We are not prepared to cause obstructions to it. We will see as to what points we can agree on and we will provide our fullest support to it.
