Leader of the National Unity Front and Central Provincial Councillor Azad Sally said that the victory of President Maithripala Sirisena is also the victory of Tamil and Muslim communities.
Issuing a communique, Azad Sally extends his wishes – as person who rendered a great service – to Maithripala Sirisena who was elected with the assistance of Tamil and Muslim people in the country.
Leader of the National Unity Front, Azad Sally was among those who were present to welcome President Maithripala Sirisena at his swearing-in ceremony held on Friday evening.
Issuing a communique on the election of President Maithripala Sirisena, Azad Sally said that god never takes the side of persons who are engaged in unjust acts.
He added that the people’s mandate has clearly shown that the people do not support such persons.
Azad Sally goes on to say that the Tamil-speaking people in the country have placed great faith in the new President, Maithripala Sirisena.
The communique goes on to read that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will render assistance in fulfilling the promises made to the people by Maithripala Sirisean to change improper political and economic programmes and to establish an era of good governance.
Azad Sally points out that putting an end to the culture of violence is one objective of the new government.
He further adds that in a democratic country, anyone can be for and against anybody.
Azad Sally emphasised that there is tendency for winners to move together with the defeated, and causing harm to the defeat should be rejected completely.
Azad Sally requests from the masses to enjoy the victory in a peaceful manner.
As information has come to light of saboteur groups attempting to cause tensions, Azad Sally also requests from the Muslim Community not to be deceived by such activities.
