A programme was held on Tuesday to create awareness about His Holiness Pope Francis’ visit to Sri Lanka.
The event was organised by the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka.Members representing the organising committee including the Director of the Media and Information Bureau for the Papal Visit, Reverend Father Cyril Gamini were present at the event.
General Secretary of Catholic Church of Sri Lanka, Rev. Fr. J.D. Anthony stated that fourteen committees have been appointed in preparation for the Papal visit to represent different aspects, including media, pilgrimage, security, logistics and spiritual activities.He noted that the government also has been appointed a Ministerial committee and the Church is also involved.
Meanwhile, the Director of Media and Information Bureau of the Papal visit, Fr. Cyril Gamini said that there is no plan to postpone or cancel the Papal visit.
His Holiness Pope Francis will tour Sri Lanka from January 13 -15.
