Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the attack which was launched on a meeting of New Democratic Front Presidential Candidate Maithripala Sirisena on Friday evening.
Police said that two alleged saboteurs had carried out this attack on the meeting amid tight security. The meeting which was held opposite the Pelmadulla bus stop was attended by several opposition leaders.
The meeting was attacked during the speech of New Democratic Front Presidential Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
However, despite the stage being continuously attacked, Maithripala Sirisena did not end his speech.
While the pelting of stones continued until the end of Sirisena’s speech, his security assisted him off the stage.
