A group of artistes convened a media briefing  at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute on Friday. The group stated that the President’s victory would help protect the unitary status of the country.

Transparency International convened a media briefing at a different location at the Foundation Institute parallel to the media briefing convened by artistes who expressed their support to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the same venue.

Media Director-Transparency International -Sri Lanka Shan Wickrematunge stated that they have the announcement made by the Department of Government Information informing other media organizations to attend the meeting.
