Investigations launched into killings in Dambulla, Mirigama, Wellawaya and Wennappuwa (Watch report)

An argument that escalated between two groups in Koshena, Mirigama on Thursday night resulted in a stabbing. The victim was a twenty-six-year-old. Two suspects have been arrested over the alleged killing.

Meanwhile, a woman was stabbed to death in close proximity to the weekly market in  Dambulla on Thursday evening. An individual was taken in to custody in the Galkiriyagama area in relation to the incident.

In another incident, the body of an individual who had died under suspicious circumstances was found from a small tank in Welawaya. The Police Media Unit stated that they have received information that the individual was intoxicated, together with another individual.

The police  had reportedly found the body  one of the banks of the tank. A police investigation is currently underway.

Meanwhile, investigations over the quadruple homicide in Wennappuwa have been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department. Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that investigators are focussing their investigations on the security officer who was serving at the house of the victims.

The bodies of four members of the same family, with their hands and feet bound, were found in a pit used to dump coconut husks in Lunuwila on Thursday. Among the victims was a female doctor attached to the Lunuwila Hospital. The doctor was married to a businessman. SSP Ajith Rohana said that investigations are continuing at the crime scene.
