According to the police media spokesperson’s office, the police has so far received 214 complaints with regard to violation of election laws. The police also noted that 92 individuals were arrested on charges of flouting election laws and have been released on bail after being produced before court.
However, election monitoring body PAFFREL noted that they have received 612 complaints with regard to the violation of election laws.
Executive Director of the organisation Rohana Hettiarachchi noted that 85 % of the complaints have been substantiated, adding that both the ruling party and the opposition are flouting election laws.
