The spillgates of Parakrama Samudraya, Kaudulla and Randenigala reservoirs have been opened.

The Disaster Management Centre requests residents of areas situated below these reservoirs to be vigilant.

Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D.P.G Kumarasiri said that steps were taken to open the spillgates of Randenigala due to the heavy showers experienced in the Walapane and Hanguranketha areas.

Meanwhile,  the Met Department said the wind speeds in sea areas around the country may increase up to 80 kilometres per hour.
