The Irrigation Department says the water levels of just about all large, medium and small lakes and reservoirs in Anuradapura have increased as a result of heavy showers experienced in the area.

Director of Irrigation in the Anuradapura District Lalith De Silva said that twenty spill gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir was opened by 6 a.m Saturday.

The Irrigation Department said that the spillgates of many reservoirs in Anuradhapura have been opened including that of Kalawewa, Nachchadoowa, Kanadarawa, Thisawewa and Nuwaraweva.
