CAA commences investigation into Hokandara plane crash

The Civil Aviation Authority states that investigations have commenced into the crash of the Sri Lanka Air Force aircraft Antonov AN-32.

The aircraft crashed in the Athurugiriya area, just outside Colombo, killing at least four people.

Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority M.M.C. Nimalsiri stated that the operations of the Control Room during the time of the crash will come under scrutiny given the investigation.

Meanwhile, Police Headquarters have stated that they are hoping for a statement from the sole survivor of the Athurugiriya crash.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that a statement from the victim could not yet be obtained owing to his current medical condition.

Director of the National Hospital Dr. Anil Jayasinghe stated that the victim is in critical condition and is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the National hospital.
