Growing concern as vegetable prices reach new heights

The prices of vegetables sold in the market have risen exponentially,  inconveniencing consumers.

The price of a kilogramme of capsicum sold at the Dambulla Economic Centre stands at Rs.350 The prices of vegetables have been on the rise over the past few days and have reached a level where the consumers cannot bear the cost any more.

The wholesale prices of vegetables such as beetroot, carrot and beans were ranging between Rs.150 to Rs.200 per kilogram at the Dambulla Economic Centre.

The traders union at the Dambulla Economic Centre stated that the wholesale prices of low grown vegetables such as Luffa, Snakegourd and Brinjals stood at Rs.100  per kilogramme.
