At a media briefing convened by the UPFA  on Sunday,  journalists raised questions regarding the government’s apparent boycott of the Satana political programme telecast on Sirasa TV.

Speaking on the issue, Minister Dallas Alahapperuma expressed these views:
No. We have not boycotted it. We are all of the view that we must participate. We will participate in the future. I cannot say anything definite about yesterday. I came to Colombo in the night. I am not really sure what happened. No matter what difference of opinion may exist, such opinions are not a basis for us to boycott that channel or the media in general. About five months ago, His Excellency the President participated in a programme organised by the Maharaja Company. It was held at their main studio complex in Ratmalana. There are no problems. About two months ago, the Defence Secretary participated in a live interview. Therefore, we do not have any personal problems or issues with the Sirasa channel or the media network.
