Deputy Leader of the United National Party Sajith Premadasa says that the current government is suppressing the media.
Sajith Premadasa made the following observations:
The government is implementing a large scale programme to suppress the media so that the truth does not come out. A result of this was the cold-blooded murder of investigative journalist Lasantha Wickremetunge. Who did it? It was through state terrorism. A recent example can be cited as the following. A group including the common candidate were taking part in a political programme known as Satana. What happened there? The Dialog TV and PEO TV platforms blocked the transmission of the programme. Who did it? It was the government. Has the government provided an explanation to this? No. They say that this was due to the weather.
MP Sajith Premadasa made a financial donation to the Sir D.B. Jayathilleke Welfare Society to a village in Lunugamvehera.
