A group of officials attached to the Ministry of Fisheries visited Brussels to discuss the regulations imposed by the European Union on the ban of Sri Lankan fish imports. Acting Minister of Fisheries Sarath Kumara Gunarathna stated that various issues were discussed including steps taken to implement the instructions given by the European Union
Thismove comes after the European Union banned fish imports based on several conditions. Some of the conditions included preventing Sri Lanka from authorising huge vessels to fish in the Indian Ocean without marine GPS
Sarath Kumara Gunarathna added that the European Union commended the measures taken by Sri Lanka with regard to this issue.
