President Mahinda Rajapaksa says the government will attempt to build a disciplined society while it continues to develop the country that was freed from the terrorists.

The President pointed out that the government is playing a significant role in creating an environment in the country which is focussed more on religion.  The President made these comments while attending a function in Colombo. The President reminded the gathering that certain individuals created many opinions in the past, to distance the country from its history and religion.

He said that these individuals received funds from foreign organisations.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa went onto say that those who say the defeat of terrorism in the country has become stale, talk proudly of taking our war heroes to be tried at the international military tribunal.

He went onto say that these personalities only talk about taking the war heroes who rescued the country and himself to be tried at the tribunal while forgetting the killings of civillians, children and the assasinations of Bhikkhus in Aranthalawa and many of our national leaders.
