Minister S.B.Dissanayake, speaking to reporters on Wednesday, commented on the role of the Common Candidate.

Minister Dissanayake expressed these views:
The former secretary has gotten afraid of what has happened to him. He is to give his powers to Ranil the day after he is elected. He will fall into the state of President Wijetunga. We know what will happen to them when they fall into such a position. What will happen to his entourage? What will happen to M.K.D.S. Gunawardena. He needs to be prepared to be President just for name-sake when he is appointed. Neither the JHU nor Fonseka will be happy about it.
Meanwhile, a journalist questioned:
The Bandaranaikes have come to the fore after a long time.
S.B. Dissanayake answered thus:
The President always addresses the Bandaranaikes with respect. He was the creator of the Party. When the children left the party, it was the mother who protected it.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion, Faizer Mustapha also expressed his views;
The Muslims are not pleased over some matters. I believe that the President will have discussions to resolve these matters.
