The issue of the Sirasa TV Satana broadcast featuring common candidate Maithripala Sirisena being blocked was taken up for consideration in the House of Lords in the UK Parliament on Monday.
Raising the issue, Lord Bach stated that common candidate Maithripala Sirisena’s first broadcast was blocked and added that his bodyguards have been removed. He questioned the House of Lords as to what steps that British Government would take to ensure a free, fair and inclusive presidential election in Sri Lanka.
Responding to the query Lord Wallace of Saltaire stated that the British Government is discussing the best way in which to make sure that there is effective monitoring of the election. He added that the British Government would raise this issue with the Sri Lankan Government
