Commissioner General of the Department of Registration of Persons R.M.S. Sarath Kumara says that identity cards will be issued to all those who applied, before the upcoming presidential election.
He added that mobile services that are being carried with financial aid from election monitoring bodies will continue to operate. The Commissioner General added that from these mobile service centres, the public can obtain national identity cards without any payment.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the CAFFE, which is an election-monitoring body, Keerthi Tennakoon said that over 12,000 identity cards have been issued via these mobile services.
