A Press conference organized by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party was held at the party headquarters in Colombo on Saturday evening.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said that defecting of general secretaries of the SLFP is not unprecedented.

He made this statement at a media briefing that was held at the SLFP Party Headquarters with the participation of six top tier members a short while ago.

Nimal Siripala de Silva said;
A general secretary leaving the party is not an unprecedented occurrence to us. Even our first general secretary left the party, Somasara Dassanayake left the party and attained monk-hood. We have a number of experiences but the party was invincible. The party was made ever strong. But the ones who left were headed into a political wilderness. But what I need to mention that the party has been a massive force which had won the support of the people.
