Another corpse was discovered floating on the Mahaweli river Wednesday, making it the third this week.
The corpse was discovered floating near the Singili Bridge in Gannoruwa on the Mahaweli River, following a tip off from residents.
While it is believed that the corpse is that of a male, there has been no positive identification as yet.
Our reporter says that as a result of the heavy rains experienced since Wednesday morning, the current had carried the body towards Katugastota.
A corpse was also discovered under the Akbar Bridge at the Peradeniya University, about two kilometres from Gannoruwa, on Tuesday. On November 12, two unidentified male corpses were discovered near Polgolla on the Mahaweli River.
Police later said that the two bodies had been identified as those of two men from Matale and Kandy.
