A bail application was produced in Court on Tuesday for Malaka Silva, the son of Minister Mervyn Silva, who was arrested in connection to an alleged assault said to have taken place in a pub in Colombo.
When the case was called up on Tuesday, Attorneys appearing on behalf of Malaka Silva produced a medical report of their client to court.
Meanwhile, President’s Counsel Hemanatha Warnakulasuriya expressed the following views;
“Many people are of the view that the aggrieved party is the foreign national. However, he is the one who had assaulted our client. Yet, he had not filed a police complaint nor had he appeared in a clinic. His name has not been mentioned in the B Report. Therefore, we requested that the foreign national also be put forward for an identification parade and remanded, because it is essential to identify him. We pleaded with the judge to take the appropriate steps and the police promised to provide us with an answer on the 18th.”
