The police have launched investigations have been launched into the murder of an eighteen-year-old girl in the Welikanna region in Alakanda, Hanwella.

The police stated that a twenty-one-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to the crime.

The suspect lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday on the claims that his fiancee hung herself in her home. Further investigations into the incident revealed that the suspect had in fact assaulted the woman with an iron object.

The suspect currently in police custody is due to be produced in the Avissawella Magistrate court on Friday.
