The police have launched investigations into an incident where a student had been assaulted in Kuliyapitiya. The Police Media Unit reported that a complaint was lodged with them that the student was assaulted by a group of teachers at school.

The seventeen-year old student is currently receiving treatment at the Kuliyapitiya Hospital.

The Police Media Unit further added that three teachers were arrested in connection with the incident. The have however been released on police bail.
