The Department of Meteorology stated that thundershowers can be expected in several areas across the country on Monday as well.
Director of the Department of Meteorology, S.R. Jayasekara say that rains could exceed 100 millimeters in certain areas later Monday evening.
As of Monday afternoon, two bodies have been pulled out of the rubble from the landslide which occurred in Miriyabedda, Koslanda.
Security Forces Commander Central, Major General Mano Perera, who is coordinating the search operation, stated that the bodies were those of an infant and an adult.
He further stated that unfavourable weather conditions still persist in the area. Meanwhile, the News1st team is at the location in which this tragic incident occurred.
