According to the Railways Department, the frequency of the daily train service from Colombo to Jaffna will be increased, following high demand from the general public.
Railway Commercial Superintendent W.S. Sisira Kumara stated that seats have already been booked upto the first week of December.
Accordingly, two more trains will be operating on the Colombo-Jaffna railway route. As of now, eight trips are made to Jaffna each day.
Superintendent W.S Sisira Kumara added that for the seventeen days since this train serve has been operational, the Railway Department has earned revenue of Rs.20 million.
