Indian premier Narendra Modi has expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives in the Meeriyabedde landslide which destroyed many homes of people of Indian origin.
The Indian premier also wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
The Indian Prime Minister said in a tweet on his official micro blogging account that he wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Jen Saki stated that the United States too expressed its condolences to the Sri Lankan Government over the landslide.
She added that the Sri Lankan Government had also made an official request to the U.S.
It was reported that the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the U.S. had also made a request from Washington in this regard. Jen Saki added that the U.S. Government was liaising with USAID in this regard to provide a speedy response.
