Another phase of the series of seminars challenging an illegal Presidential Election was held in the town of Galle on Wednesday. Former Chief Justice, Sarath N. Silva expressed the following views:

[quote]The special provision introduced by J. R. Jayawardene, in which a person who conducts a Presidential Election within a short span of time, should complete his full tenure, remains unchanged. I was against a presidential election being held before November 2016. It is stated in the constitution that this individual should serve a term of six years. He took oaths as the president on the 19th of November 2010 and according to the third amendment he should serve for a period of six years. He was unable to amend the constitution. I believe President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been told by an astrologer in Galle that there are bad times ahead for him. An astrologer did not say it, I can say it. His time is coming to an end.
