Addressing an event held in Colombo titled Budget highlights 2015 on Friday, soon after the first reading of the 2015 budget, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal noted that the reduction in electricity tariffs that came into effect recently was a promise given through the Mahinda Chinthana policy framework in 2009.
He noted that with or without elections, leaders need to have the strength to implement reforms.
The Governor went on to note that the budget deficit of the country had been gradually reducing under the current administration and would be reduced to 4.6% through the 2015 budget.
