JVP North Central Provincial Councillor, Wasantha Samarasinghe said that an expeditious investigation must be conducted into the Geneva transaction, just as an investigation is being conducted into the importation of coal for the Norochcholai Power Station.

He shared the following views:
We saw that Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi had suddenly said that a fraud of about 1.5 billion rupees has occurred in the importation of coal and that the CID is conducting an investigation. This is a new approach. We commend it. Conduct investigations into crimes, corruption and fraud. At the same time, expedite the investigation into the audit report on the refurbishment of the official residence in Geneva. It has been two years since the report was compiled, and even though two years have passed since the report was submitted to President Mahinda Rajapaksa, it has not been investigated. Why? We call on Minister G.L. Peiris to entrust this investigation to the CID as well and to immediately investigate not only the LTTE connection, but also the misuse of public funds.
