Who wants a Presidential Election – asks MP Anura Kumara (Video)

Addressing a seminar held in Colombo on Friday October 17, Leader of the JVP,  Anura Kumara Dissanayake questioned as to who wants the rumoured presidential election.

He stated that the SLFP General Secretary had stated that they do not want this election. Anura Kumara went on to note that other factions within the government including individuals like Ven. Athuraliye Rathana thero, Minister Rauff Hakeem (Leader –SLMC), MP Rajeeva Wijesinghe as well as other leftist parties have opposed the move to hold a presidential election..

The JVP leader questioned as to where the current administration sets their moral and ethical boundaries when they attack their own ambassadors and don’t hold inquiries into who carried out the assault.  He adds that the current administration remains silent when evidence was revealed as to who is engaged in large scale drug and ethanol rackets.

Speaking on the actions of a particular MP from Kelaniya, Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that both the parliamentarian and the Chairman of the Kelaniya PS exchange allegations of extortion. He went on to note that in such a backdrop, the government questions as to whether they are scared,  he questions as to whether or not they should be frightened when such incidents occur.
