Leader of the Democratic party Sarath Fonseka says that whether or not he will contest for the next presidential poll will be based on the decision taken by the United National Party.

Addressing a media briefing in Colombo on Wednesday, October 15, Fonseka noted that they are yet to decide on whether they will contest the presidential election or support a common candidate.

The Democratic Party leader noted that according to current information they had received they feel that the UNP leader would contest the next presidential election, although it has not been confirmed as yet.

He noted that the decision of the Democratic Party will be based on the final decision taken by the UNP adding that they will consider all options with an open mind and before reaching a final decision..
