Police Headquarters say a special investigation has been launched into allegations levelled at the police over the raid on a karaoke centre in Katunayake.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that the investigations have commenced based on a complaint lodged with the Inspector General of Police.
It has been reported that the centre in question is owned by a relative of a politician. An accusation has been levelled that the raid was prompted by a political agenda and investigations are being conducted by the Police Special Task Force.
The raid was conducted by police teams from Peliyagoda and Katunayake. The Police Media Spokesperson stated various accusations were made against the two police teams.
He added that investigations are being headed by the ASP of Negombo. SSP Ajith Rohana said that disciplinary action will be taken against them if they have misused power or have not produced items pertaining to the court case.
