Alcohol prices reach new high

Alcohol prices have been raised.

Commissioner General of the Excise Department Wasantha Hapuarachchi stated that the price of one proof litre of alcohol – that is with an alcohol percentage of 23 or more- has been raised by Rs.90.

Meanwhile, the price of one proof litre of beer with an alcohol percentage of more than 5% will be increased by Rs.15 while beer with an alcohol percentage of less than 5 % will be raised by Rs.10.

The Commissioner General of the Excise Department stated that the price of one proof litre of locally produced foreign alcohol will be increased by Rs.120. He further stated that this price increase came into effect on October 10.
