The Police Headquarters says that statements have been recorded from ten individuals in connection to the incident where an alleged attack was launched on a Satyagraha campaign organised by students of the Sabaragamuwa University.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that investigations into the attack are underway.

The make-shift tent in which the students of the Sabaragamuwa University were staging their Satyagraha campaign at the Pambahinna junction on the Badulla – Colombo main road for forty days was allegedly burnt down at around 11 p.m. on Friday.

The students alleged that an unidentified group attacked them with petrol bombs, iron rods and iron chains.
Six students who sustained injuries in the attack are receiving treatment at the Balangoda Hospital.
