Cyclonic storm Hud Hud hovers over Northeast of Jaffna coast

The Met Department says that the severe cyclonic storm “Hud Hud” in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm and added that its currently located about 900 kilometres off the North east coast of Jaffna.

The department forecasts winds with high speeds in the northern parts of the country.
The Met Department notes that the year’s strongest tropical cyclone in the North Indian Ocean is advancing towards India.

Meanwhile, massive evacuations are underway in the south eastern parts of India, as cyclone Hud Hud is likely to make landfall on the coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

Temperatures of upto 28 degrees Celsius is expected in Colombo while temperatures hovering around 15 degree Celsius to 21 degree Celsius will be recorded in the Nuwara Eliya District.

Temperatures between 26 degrees to 29 degrees Celsius is expected in Galle throughout Saturday.
