News 1st correspondent Chandana Kuruppuarachchi, who was attacked while covering recent clashes in Hali-Ela, Badulla, continues to receive treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.

Minister of Public Relations and Public Affairs, Mervyn Silva, visited Chandana Kuruppuarachchi in hospital  on Wednesday.

The Minister shared the following views:

[quote]What I am saying is, that it is wrong, no matter who did it. I was harassed at Rupavahini. My friends may have done some things there. There are people in this country who love me. But I have never carried out such actions, nor will I. I propose to the government and the Media Minister that they please make some financial donation to this innocent journalist who is a father of three and was a victim of such a severe crime.
